Medicare Changes Make RN's "Revenue Generators"

Changes to the way Medicare implements their will make make RN's "Revenue Generators" according to a new survey. The study by AMH looked at the emerging role of Nurses in regards to hospital nurse staffing patterns and the emerging role of nurses as "financial rainmakers". A "Financial Rainmaker" is an employee who brings a wealthy (or profitable) client base to the business. "Under the new payment systems, they are more likely to be seen as an investment." instead of a cost according to Marcia Faller, CNO of AMN Healthcare.

Asked about an ongoing Medicare efforts to tie hospital eimbursement to patient satisfaction, 62% of CNOs surveyed said such systems would enhance Nurse's Status. They also belived a full compliment of Nurses would decrease the occurrence of "Never Events". 70% of CNO's say that Nurses will be considered more important as a source of revenue.
