Memphis Tigers Collapsible Trash Can (Doubles as Cooler and Laundry Hamper)Whether you use an apartment, travel trailer, with or without a washer/dryer, a collapsible laundry hamper is useful. Easy to fold and store, easy to open, easy to carry empty or full. Makes my travels tolerable…I always take my car. I like to see where I have been. Everything I need fits into my little Jeep Liberty.

My home is in Florida but I have made trips to Nevada, Vermont, South Florida, Califorinia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. So it is important to me to have small collapsible items to fill my car up with. Now, If they just made a fold out Microwave! You may rather fly. There are some companies that will Fly you out and pay for your rental car. Like I said though, I like to see where I'm going and where I've been, so I drive. It is also a good tax break.

If you use your travel company’s housing, usually it is “free”. but be sure to find out what it includes. A washer dryer, microwave, vacuum cleaner are the three biggies to me. The companies that I have worked for usually don’t include the above three things. They have included the vacuum for free, if I asked for it. They usually charge for the washer-dryer, but its generally cheaper than any other way of doing laundry, at least in my experience…. but I mostly wind of lugging my own cheapie microwave with me.

Hauling the microwave and tv are the heaviest stuff I have. I havent sprung for a flat screen tv yet… and renting a tv is NOT worth it…the only time I did it was an older tv, I probably could have bought a used one for a lot less than the one they rented me…but I least I didn’t have to lift it.

And I always ask for a top level apt, because I like to be above the action more than I hate toting my stuff up stairs or elevators… I don't like having herds of elephants romping around overhead when I am working 3 12's in a row. I need my sleeep!

If you are going to a cold or hot climate, find out if the parking is ’covered’ or not this makes a difference… and I always forget to ask that question. Whatever you ask the housing person about is what they will think about when they negotiate contracts with the apt complex in this and your next assignment.
