Nurse Ethics Rank Second to Nun?

Sally Field's Plays Flying NunWhen it comes to ethics and integrity according to a Gallup poll published Nov. 2008, Nurses have everyone beat hands down. Perhaps Nuns rank higher, but we'll never know. Although clergy was included in a general sense, nun's specifically were not mentioned in the Gallup's sample questions. One would have to believe that the numbers for bankers, politicians, and congress would still be on the lower end if the poll were taken today amidst the bailout/stimulus infighting.

Nurses ranked higher than MD's, Policemen, Pharmacist and a host of professions. An amazing 84% of the respondents thought nurses were above average when it comes to honesty and integrity. Lobbyist , and telemarketers scored the lowest. Car salesmen came in at 7%, congressmen, stockbrokers, advertising practitioners, business executives, lawyers, and labor union leaders were all rated in the teens.

It's nice to know that just because the nation is going through a rough patch, people still admire and appreciate Nurses. I know it makes me feel better. Sure it's a high standard to maintain, but one well worth having. All you really have that's worth anything in life is your good name.
